Chaser
She spent her days chasing the light Her nights dancing through the dark She knows one day she wouldn't see the dawn So she kept the flame inside her heart
Tracks
Sitting on the train Looking at you You looked like someone Someone I once knew Headed this direction Away from my home It felt like somewhere Somewhere unknown This life that I'm living It feels so familiar Like an old photo album Like a sepia picture I kept looking at you And you finally asked Where I was going "Away from the past" I never understood the train Tearing down the track There's something futile About moving forward, As we sit looking back.
Fields
She spent her days Saturday's Lazy days In a daze Pulling petals In a daisy field Wonders her life wields Thought the obstacles yield When you dream the dreams She's been dreamin of One by one Minutes pass Months in the past Years at last She still spendin her days In a field A field of petal-less daisies
Chapter Two
There is always the moment The one you think back to When you look and you say Right there, right at that moment Like looking at a map You place your finger on a single point, There. When we see past the skin and bones Past even the streaks of blue In your iris' They were sitting on the couch Leaning against her, His heaviness weighed on her rib cage Pushing a subtle sigh from her lungs Her legs stretched over him His hand resting gently below her knee As he watched the tv in front of them She watched the light flash across his features as the screen changed from bright to dim She watched his hair tumble away from his forehead Curls tangle in each other She leaned forward Wrapped her dainty polished fingertips Around his chiseled chin His stubble poked her palm as she brought her lips to his temple There. He looked back over his shoulder And smiled Right there. 11:16pm She let herself love with him All of him
Chapter Three
“Open it, hurry!” He slid the key into the lock, Turned it slowly to the right “Ready?” She could hear the smile in his voice He didn’t even have to turn his head But she was thankful he did So she could see his cheeks rumple at the corners of his mouth Framing his perfect smile
Standing in the empty living room, She squealed Jumping into his arms Wrapped her legs tightly around his waist She threw her arms up, Leaning back, she felt his grip tighten around the small of her back
“It’s perfect” The words slipped through her glowing smile Looking at the white walls, This was their canvas Waiting It was all waiting, It felt like something was growing in her chest, Bursting from every seam Like staring at the ocean, Right before you dive in
“One day we’ll travel the world, We’ll write our own story Break every rule, Just you and me”
The California sun shone through the windows, dancing around the freshly painted room
“This is day one of forever, baby” He said. “Are you ready?” She beamed, clutching his shoulders “Ready”
He kissed her His fingers pressed firmly behind her ears Along her jaw
She pulled back, “Ready”
Chapter Five
On the right side of their king sized bed She watch the hands bring forth yet another hour, His chest rose and fell With each breath So easily, carelessly
She got up and went out to the porch The boards were damp on her pale feet The night sky made her feel small All her problems so insignificant Yet weighed so heavy on her heart So heavy in her head
Standing in the doorway of their bedroom Moonlight slipping through the curtains He looked so flawless Like someone who could be loved And she did love him
She rested her head on his chest Hearing his heart thump as methodic As the clock on the night stand, She watched it again He pulled her in and placed his smooth lips Firmly into her hair
He loved her His mind rested comfortably On their sage pillow cases And she loved him Yet her mind ran wildly Searching to know If love was enough
Without
Sun setting, Breathe this bleeding sky Into my fragile lungs, Burn me frozen From the inside out, Smoke coursing my veins Sizzling on the way down, Fizzling till the lights out, Darker than pacific blue Daydreaming Without you, Days dreaming, Without you
Another
I'm in love with your taste The taste of darker sin The taste of a tragedy Before the meeting of page and pen I'm in love with your demons The ones that drag behind The ones that hang from your shoulders Befriend the ones on mine You are everything that is poison And I'll drink you till the dawn Because you're oh, so beautifully scarred And I'm oh, so dangerously gone
