Graphic Design for 2020
Graphic design is everywhere: on our phones, in stores, along the side of the freeway. In our everyday life, unless we live under a rock, we are exposed to the many forms of graphic design. Most recently, internet memes and traditional posters are the most common and easily accessed to share our views and have our voices heard. The Hope to Nope: Graphics and Politics 2008-18 exhibition examines how our public engagement with politics has drastically changed since 2008. Technology and graphic design are key aspects of how we view politics. The show is divided into three sections: Power, Protest, and People, that are unified by a large graphic timeline that will dissect the gallery charting the role of new communication technologies such as social media in global events over the past decade. We all have this power to express our views with the world with just one simple post on social media. Technology and graphic design are weapons wielded by the powerful and the marginalized alike. It will be interesting to see years from now how we’re making history with memes and protest signs. Graphic design is something that will stay in our lives no matter what. The Design Museum in London will open this exhibition March 28 through August 12 this year. Read for more information: https://www.dexigner.com/news/30718
