*sigh*, I know. I just find that it pops up much more in this ship then say, Marius/Cosette or E/R. Which is unfortunate, as it really is a high potential pairing (and I hope I didn't come across as hating, as it really wasn't my intention!).

In regards to the 'why is É/E hated?' question, I think another reason is that some people use it as an excuse to self-insert themselves as Éponine, and pair her up with 'that hot guy who's currently unattached'. Eppiesues pop up a lot, I find, and with so much OOCness on both their sides, it's rather hard to see the potential. (Oh and then there's also the fact a lot of the arguments used to support É/E don't really have a basis, not to mention that they have almost no interaction whatsoever)

Not sure if this is hate on ship or constructive fanfic criticism but im posting it. Can i just say that the -insert myself here- point you made isnt a ship-specific problems ive seen it all over fanfic in all fandoms, people are always going to write fantasies like that and we just have to let them.-shrugs-

Hi velocicrafter, my name's ppopine. How are you? Regarding this whitewashing issue, I'd just like to mention that I'm of Japenese-German descent, and as such have a skin tone similar to Ramin's. I've have my skin lightened (and darkened) for roles as well, but I don't look at it as whitewashing. The role for which my skin was lightened was a character who hadn't seen the light of day for years, and as such had a pasty complexion (similar to how the phantom's makeup is supposed to look). (cont'd) Perhaps that's why they lightened his skin? Regarding the pink undertones, if you look at pictures from his original run as the phantom, or in Love Never Dies, you can't see any pink whatsoever. It's only in phantom25 that he sometimes appears to have pink undertones, leaving me to wonder if the lighting could be a contributing factor as well. These are simply my opinions regarding the matter. An if you take issue with them (as you are entitled to), perhaps we should agree to disagree.

Hi Ppopine, thank you for your message. I'm doing alright, except for having had the same conversation going over the same information about 14 times since lunch today. Oh, also it pretty much sucks that people are telling me I'm a jerk for the way I'm responding to some of these questions, but they seem to not notice that many of the notes in the reblogs on some of my Phantom posts are other people reblogging to snark & be jerks about what I wrote. So, y'know, that's not awesome.

As for the business w/the possibility that this is an issue of lighting, I might think that was the case if the white people next to Ramin had a similar pink flush, but none of them do (except Sierra, as I'm seeing redness on her collarbones now, but it seems to be more likely it's a slight sunburn/strain from the demands of the performance). The lighting in the scene I took those screencaps from seems to be more on the blue/white end of things, and you can see that his makeup still looks pinker than the parts of his skin that are showing. As I've said before, the makeup artists seem to have managed to make a good match to everyone else's skin tone, except Ramin.
