"Have you ever even done this before?"
Ulric had been pulling out flowers from the garden, roots and all. He wanted to personally choose the flowers he was going to give to her, so even though he could just order the gardener to pick the flowers for him, he chose not to. He thought it would make it all the more special if he had personally picked them. He was concentrated on what he was doing when he suddenly heard someone yelling frantically at him. When he looked up, the gardener was rushing towards him, panic obvious in his face.
"Put those down, m’lord!"
He was so startled that Ulric did not even think of admonishing the peasant for yelling at him. He just merely dropped the flowers on the ground, also suddenly scared. “Wait, why?”
"Those are poisonous flowers, Sir Ulric. They will be of no use to you. You should not even be in this part of the garden."
"Why?"
"This is the part where poisonous plants and flowers are kept, m’lord," the gardener answered. Ulric was just about to ask why poisonous plants were being kept in the garden when the peasant asked him another question. "Have you ever even done this before, Sir?"
At that, Ulric only sighed, his shoulders sagging as he looked at his dirty hands “No. Obviously. I’m a knight, am I not? We don’t spend time picking out flowers from weeds in the battlefield. We have more important things to do.” With that, he reached over and wiped his hands on the clothes of the gardener to clean his palms off. “Just…just bring me to the non-poisonous ones and pick what I tell you to pick.” That still counted as a good thought, right? Though he was not going to personally cut them off the stems, he would still choose which ones. It was as good…right?
