I’m drawn to rope because of seeing it washed up on beaches and wondering what it used to tie up/be tied to. I made garments with rope as a form of disassembly, but also a lifeline in case of need. Quipu was created as a method of communication between far off places. Somehow, rope just has this silent expression that it’s a practical thing; it traverses nations and talks about what it is no matter where you’re from or what language you speak.
