Since my short film is temporarily shelved (again), I thought I might ease the torture of waiting by practicing my editing on iMovie. I haven't shot anything new yet and I just wanted it to be a quick project so I turned to the precious (and by that I mean rare) gem that is free quality stock footage. I had this concept of a dream sequence, probably because that's the easiest excuse for a video montage. But I had no idea what the dream would be. Good thing, Sebastian Duclos's song is so moving that when I started putting the video clips together, I found a way to give them a meaning. That is:
What haunts humanity in their sleep?
Again, the videos and the music are not mine but they are available for free under attribution. I only did some trimming and color grading. The syncing, too, of course. I left Duclos's music untouched but I added a snippet of sound at the end.
Editing this was like creating a collage of pictures from magazines and newspapers. Except, I always sucked at making collages. I always end up making a mess. At least with videos, I don't have to deal with glue.
