Stayed up really late last night watching at least half of my Halloween movie list, and instead of having normal post-horror movie nightmares, I spent the entirety of my REM sleep cycle explaining the dangers of binding to Micheal Myers
So it’s been 5 weeks of me binding for around 10 hours a day. And that’s only once a week on Mondays so I thought it would be fine because I have the rest of the week to recover. The most I end up binding outside of that is a couple of hours at a time once or twice a week.
But umm. Yeah. Don’t be like me. You might think it’s only one day a week so it won’t be that bad. But my chest is so sore. All of it. The side of my ribs especially are tender to the touch. My back is sore. And the front of the rib cage, just under the boobs hurts if I take in very deep breaths.
Do you know of a way to reduce chest size while working out? I know binding while working out is bad but I don't want to work out ever because a large chest doesn't really blend in.
there’s not a lot you can do to safely bind your chest during strenuous activity. naturally anything you do that restricts breathing will not mix with working out of any high intensity level. I have worn a binder on days that I knew I was just going to be doing some leg exercises or biceps or something, but even that is unsafe and can be really bad for you. Your best bet is to find a good sports bra with good compression and then layer over it with a rash guard or underarmour type shirt and then your tshirt or whatever. also if you stress about blending in you can always as the people at the front desk of your gym what times of day are the least crowded so you can work out in as empty a gym as possible!
PSA/Personal Confession
I have tried binding with ace before, alright? Just like probably a lot of you have tried - whether you want to admit it or not. I heard the horror stories, I shrugged them off, I thought there was no way something so trivial could do damage like that, but I was wrong.
I was binding with ace for maybe, MAYBE, 4 hours tops. Not that bad, right? WRONG! Those four hours were painful, uncomfortable and honestly, I’m lucky I didn’t get injured worse than I did. Those four hours ended when I finally unwrapped the ace from my chest because I was having an extremely difficult time breathing; and I mean literally gasping for breath, felt like I had ran a marathon difficult time breathing.. It was dreadful. I bruised my ribs doing what I did, and had I kept the ace bandage longer, I could’ve broken them and done so much more damage that I thought only happened with the horror stories about binding with ace.
Seriously lovelies, don’t do it. Your comfort is not worth risking your life for - not like that. Get a binder, or use sports bras, but do not, do NOT, bind with ace. It can do permanent, and serious damage. Hell, it can even be lethal. DON’T DO IT!
Stay lovely~
