"it is that serious" truly. 🔬👩‍🎤 that split second of that tense little mouth tilt in sudden caution -> the eased smile in recognition is so (gurgling sounds)

but also, i feel like it is the responsibility of britcedes nation to acknowledge that something about the way george laid his hands on the shoulders and squeezed with that faint, subtle smile whilst not even looking at him yet was so- (hot). i love george like this, it's so magnetic to me, the confidence in the gesture, the unbothered, self-assured half-smile, chef's kiss. 😌 lewis' "okay, it's you" reaction was very cute, but i thought george's "i get to do this with him and i'll have the attention now" attitude was especially delectable.

and all of this before the actual interaction even happened, truly every second can feed those with crazy enough eyes to see

that moment is so revealing isn't it!! lewis' initial reaction to someone touching him out of nowhere is always barely stifled annoyance, because these guys have to deal with pushy fans and sponsors all the time. (I couldn't track it down unfortunately, but there's a video somewhere out there of george doing a walking interview and getting interrupted by a fan halfway through. the guy just squeezes in, takes a selfie, and leaves without a word. to which george just says "wow", laughs, and keeps talking.)

so, lewis turns around, steeling himself for a minute of trying to tell this overly touchy guy off (in front of CAMERAS as well. and that's why it's a situation too: cause normally people need to get past his bodyguards to bother him. but when he's in the paddock and/or at an event, he's more vulnerable.) and then he sees george and goes ooh! it's MY overly touchy guy! well, that's ok then.

(I actually think the smile is mostly relief at not having to deal with a Situation. but the twice over he gives george is just... might as well have taken a bite out of him, honestly.)

as for george... his tendency for bothering people mid-interview needs to be studied. I personally think it's because he's nosy (see: him asking alex for secrets in the cutest way, even at the cost of having to Join An Interview.) plus, he just has to yap away sometimes, AND he's that annoying tall person who has to let everyone know he's there by putting a hand/elbow on them. have you noticed he's there? cosplaying as a cat batting at their owner. bapbapbap. give him ATTENTION

anyway. george going from being intimidated of lewis and his force-field of a personal space bubble to touching him out of nowhere and ambushing him in front of cameras is so fascinating. he Knew he looked hot and he wanted lewis to see too :)

oooohhh britcedes... they definitely have a special place to me, I like them most at their silliest (wrong direction come back to me) but this is definitely a ship where both of them feel better with others to me. I love the hero worship george has for lewis but i never felt like lewis had that same level of devotion to george and he can't date Another teammate. (I'm not just talking about nico). I think that the spot i see them most is casual sex that george reads as deeper than it is, but also, I think their habits gel really well together so i think they are compatible im just not sure it goes much further. Of course every mercest ship is thematically delicious though :)
