The project exists within a virtual space, which itself exists in a speculative environment where the equipment is universally accessible. The design is intended to develop into a seamless immersive experience where equipment obtrusion is minimal. The design can apply to those currently who cannot access nature, i.e. those contained to indoor or urban environments. This design can also speculate to a future where memories/natural experiences can be customised and experienced through virtual means.
The multi-sensory simulated experience will be a subjective insight into the relationship between memory and re-membering or re-living. In creating this designed immersive environment an impression will be made of the power of sensory based reconstructed and curated memory. The memory or memories in particular will be my own, ranging from recent experiences to emotively driven past memory. The key areas of simulation, in order of attention to realism, will be sound, smell, and sight. Through this prototype it will reveal the capacity of simulated environments from a non-ocular centric viewpoint.
