I think that your last ooc message was so beautiful! I think that it's amazing what you're doing in your uncle's name. It may be out of place for me to say this, but I think that your uncle would be so proud of what you're doing.
Thank you! I’ll admit, I was too young to remember him but I’ve seen videos of when I was a baby with him and the stories people tell me are amazing. He was only 13 but everyone in the town loved him so much because he lived for the town and was so friendly and helpful to everyone, and everyone says he was the best hockey player ever and probably would have made it to the NHL. It makes me super proud to know that I had such an amazing person in my life, even if it was only for a brief while. <3
It’s unbelievable with all the support we get. We had a donation just today for $600 and another person sent us a thousand one time anonymously towards the fund. We never have to fundraise, we get donations a lot from people in the community to outsiders hearing about the story. It’s just a great time for everyone in the town to remember him and I love hearing people talk about him and it’s all really positive.
I remember back before the fund started, Peter Zezel ( he used to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs, my uncles favorite team ) was out for our grand opening of the room we have dedicated to my uncle and he asked if any kids around here couldn’t afford to play and someone said that there was one kid going around town picking up bottles to cash in for money. Peter pulled out the money right on the spot to pay for his registration and equipment and I swear everyone just broke down crying. My mom told me she went to this particular kids first practice and everyone was skating circles around him but he had the biggest smile on his face and it made it worth everything.
And now we have this fund, we sponsor a bunch of kids It’s great. <3 So no, you’re not out of place. I love talking about it and sharing the love.
