Is there a reason he doesn’t seem to have his coat on in like, most of his appearances, or was it just a time saving measure considering the ungodly amount of detail present in the characters around him
I haven’t actually read the manga I’ve just been absorbing information via osmosis
Alt versions below the cut ✨
I actually have no idea how I colored this one, it just kinda happened
Whatever it was absolutely didn’t work with the coatless version tho so that’s why it’s dramatically different lmao
I do not vibe with coatless Colress, his charm is stored in the lab coat I fear
Behold, Colress with more blatant attributes from Klinklang ✨
It was only a matter of time before I got bored enough to draw this dude myself. It will probably happen again
My artstyle is in the process of evolving, so it’s a bit all over the place, but I wanted to doodle this concept for a while now. I’ve seen more people portray Colress as/with Beheeyem traits, and as much as I really like that idea, I do think Klinklang suits him more, alas
Removing limbs from characters is just a thing I like to do lmao, so that’s why his arms float like that (as well as why his legs are as nonsensical as they are). Not exactly visible, but his hands are also detached from his wrists, albeit hidden by the gears
The original idea I had first was literally just “transparent torso full of gears,” kinda like one of those see through video game controllers from way back when (miss those). Whether or not that comes across is debatable, I’m unfortunately not very good at executing my ideas to their full potential :’)
This was fun though, I don’t often draw characters with any hair styles similar to Colress’, so that was an interesting process to figure out (his hair antenna is way too big but maybe that’s just where he hides his secrets)
I love when fanworks give Colress the last name “Achroma” since it basically means his parents named him “without color” twice
This either explains why Colress isn’t the best at naming his inventions (behold, the Colress Machine part 1,708), or is the reason he’s morally stunted
I’ve seen a few people say Colress didn’t need to pop up in the Rainbow Rocket episode of USUM because they could have used any other scientist/inventor to fill his role
But like, when you actually think about it, Rainbow Rocket was a gathering of past villains who were all successful in their own timelines
What is Colress if not a past villain who was technically successful in his timeline
