I just want to share a story with everyone. The morning after the Orlando shooting, I wake up. My mom comes in sometime after I'm awake and getting dressed and hugs me. I tell her 'happy birthday', as her birthday was the next day (but it was Monday, so we were using the weekend as celebration). She says, "That's not why I'm hugging you." "Why, then?" She proceeds to tell me about the shooting. I can see as she's talking that she'd been crying. She tells me she thought about me, thought about the fact that one day I might be one of those casualties because there's such violence against gays. So many of us are affected by this, and my heart goes out to all the victims of this horrific incident. I hope everyone stays safe. My thoughts and wishes go for the survivors of the shooting & towards their recovery.
