Todays Reflection:
Today’s readings deal with our tension of living both in the world and within the Kingdom of God. This we see in our readings, beginning with our first reading, where Peter reminds us that there may be a delay in the second coming of Christ. However, when it occurs, it will do so quite dramatically. Seeing that this is true, we ought to remain vigilant and not fall to the world. We do this by listening to Jesus, who speaks the truth clearly in our gospel. For he puts things straight, gives to the world what is the world's and to God what is God's. That is to say, we must learn how to live in the world in such a way that we become good witnesses to the Kingdom of God. If accomplished correctly, we will receive a place in the new heaven and the new earth where righteousness dwells for all eternity. For, in every age, O Lord, you have been our refuge.
