Final Preparations
Waiting was hard. For Aleyanna and her strike team, all allocated training sessions and patrols were used up. Now, she, and everyone else at Camp Resolve were stuck waiting for the airships to cast off and fight Mordremoth.
That of course didn’t mean they were just sitting around doing nothing. Instead, the time was spent telling stories, going over any last minute checks, and the likes. In particular on this day, Doppt was busy going over some calculations at their mess table.
“And what are you going over now?” Mixxa asked.
“The probability of our success, Mixxa, my darling,” he replied.
“And?” Michael remarked.
“We have a sixty-two percent chance of victory, with a five percent margin of error.”
“But just remember, anything can happen in the field on the fly. That’s why we have to be ready for anything that may show up,” Aleyanna said as she took a seat. “And while we won’t be a part of the aerial battle, in case something goes wrong, we need to be ready to step in and lend a hand.”
“Provided there’s any bit of Mordremoth left,” Marina said with a humorous snarl. She was too busy consuming a meat flank on a stick to offer much valuable insight besides that.
“Well, hope for the best, and prepare for the worst,” Mary remarked. With that, the strike team took to their meal. All the while, they were awaiting the moment the airships would be cast off and the battle begun. They hoped the Pact would succeed.
