Ah yes, that early ‘00s sound that is so homey to me ... #WhenSpotifyMakesGoodRecommendations

So, I just found out that the band’s lead member was actually, for a short period, the guitarist for Crazy Town, and IDK how I feel about that. Yea, Crazy Town, that ‘butterfly song’ band that got played on Nickelodeon all the time, along with other such emetics as Who Let the Dogs Out?, Hot in Herre, Shake Ya Tailfeather (why were the latter two being played on Nickelodeon, anyway?) ... I Want Candy, etc.

(What the f*ck happened to Aaron Carter, by the way?).

I think all of these songs were probably made much worse by the fact that a) they were basically the elevator music making up my “morning ritual” before going to school, and b) they were blended together with the scent of my mom’s cheap hair spray, which almost did have a physical, emetic quality. I believe that particular aroma probably could conjure, still, the zeitgeist of a kid in seventh grade waking up on a weekday, if I smelled it today. Scent, like a horcrux in Harry Potter, can store essence that survive until we don’t; just ask Marcel Proust.

(Song is also kind of reminiscent of Everclear ... I am thinking Father of Mine). 🤔
