‘Miss Universe / is not averse...’, part deux: *reserved post-punk screaming and flailing*
After an exhausting/fruitless hotel search until 2am Fri/Sat, on Saturday morning my wonderful (and, frankly, indefatigable) old friend had a last-ditch thought. It worked – and suddenly we were all guns blazing to get to Bristol in time for the gig!
The Set were brilliant – on fantastic (and hilarious) form – and there was wonderful atmosphere and a great audience. (Parts are already up on YouTube! Link to follow.) But, to crown it all, we met Andy Warren and Bid!!!!! We chatted with Andy for quite a while, and he seemed a lovely person, very easy to talk to. The whole band, and most of their audience, have aged very gracefully, too. ;)
The only slight downer was that the band autographed a copy of their brand-new album Super Plastic City for mr expo as a present for his colleague (who first saw them play in 1982!) – but on the wet and windy walk back into town, the ink smeared so badly that the signatures are barely readable...
Now really looking forward to seeing the Set playing again in London...
