You stumble out into the hallway, mind fogged up by fever and almost swimming with the notion that you must leave Seokjin a note telling him you can’t meet up this afternoon. The thought that he could arrive any minute doesn’t cross your mind. You’re too busy oozing into the common room to notice Seokjin breeze in from the other door. And in that moment two things happen simultaneously.

1: Seokjin nearly chokes on the thick smell of moist, dark earth and heavily spiced honey. After years of being around you, he’d grown used to your smell as it was: clinical nothingness with slight hints of topsoil. But with your wolf’s biological drives freely simmering away under your skin, your natural scent is cranked up to 11. It makes his gums itch, the threat of fang becomes inevitable.

2: In the middle of frantically scribbling some bullshit lie about why you can’t meet for the project, your heat reaches another high. Luckily the table beneath you is sturdy enough to take your weight when your body pitches forward. The wood doesn’t splinter even after your fingers dig into the varnish with inhuman strength. Your ears pick up on a second heartbeat then, having missed it under the rushing sound of your pulse. Immediately you regret the quick look you throw over your shoulder. Why did it have to be him?

Seokjin clears his throat awkwardly. “Are you on your heat?”

You let out a low whine. “H-how are you at the top of our class?”
