Latula waits for the PI outside the courthouse exactly like they agreed upon. Well, okay, maybe up on the protruding concrete slab alongside the stairs wasn’t *exactly* where they agreed upon, but she needed some height so that she could get a better view. While her eyes and ears are searching the surrounding area for the man joining her this afternoon, her mind is a million miles away. Work hadn’t gone so well today. Oh, her cases had been fine, she’d put away two pick pockets and a bank robber, but one of her new ADAs just told her that he lost a case to a claim of police brutality. Police brutality! They don’t lose cases to those kinds of claims, that’s rule number one in the district attorney’s book… but maybe it’s not his fault, the normal defense lawyers had been harping pretty hard on that recently and their arguments were getting better… Perhaps she ought to warn Redglare to back off a bit. Citizens are going to think that the Commissioner’s unhinged and dangerous either way, but if they start to think that she’s dangerous to them and not just criminals… that could get messy.

Her student better hurry, if Latula’s left to her thoughts much longer it’ll be a lot harder for him to live up to his “middle name”.
