The thing is: it's not that the Rocket trio suddenly went back to being incompetent in DA!. It's just that they're running out of luck. They're still competent but tragically unlucky. It's totally unfair... or at least it would be if they weren't trying to do illegal stuff. (Well, their hole wasn't that deep this time, hence Satoshi managing to quickly climb out of it, but I suppose they fell out of practice after so long? =D)
