So basically my precious possessions sum up my life. I'm obsessed with reading and its what I do to de-stress or just entertain myself, but I will NEVER and I repeat NEVER stop buying hard copies of books. I'm really not into ebooks; they just don't seem as real to me. I have a small art journal and a writing journal to just get my thoughts out when I'm feeling down. I also included a flower that someone gave me that I've kept in this book since the day I got it 6 years ago and it means the world to me. I also have my converse a.k.a my adventure shoes because they're functional AND fashionable. I also have headphones because I think I'd explode without music. Like actually. But ya, welcome to my world. I hope you like it :)
Precious 5. I celebrate the eyes that see and the hands that are making this warp. Apologies for lack of pen on paper.
iPhone 6 camera with glamour and drama filters on the bottom two pics.
Precious 7. Colour here as a pot of Procion dye paste which I have had since 1972 - a little goes a long way.

Let’s start with my ukulele. My cousin gave it to me before we went to the US. I always borrowed her sister’s ukulele, and I would record a lot of covers with it. She told me that I should keep recording and playing when I got here. Until one day, days before our flight, she came to our house and gave me a big box. This lil’ ukulele was inside it! I kept saying “Are you for real?!” cause I just couldn’t believe it!
On the top middle is my travel journal. This is a really good find. My aunt bought it for me at Goodwill for $2! I didn’t know what to do with it. I decided to make it a travel journal when I went to California and New York last summer. That little drawing in there shows what I see when I wake up in the morning at my aunt’s apartment in Daly City. Still not finished with the whole journal though. I’m still working on it!
Below that is my Brandy Melville denim jacket! It’s my absolute favorite. As soon as I saw it I told myself that I’m definitely going to get it. Even after I saw how much it was.
On the right are my laptop, phone charger and eyeglasses. My laptop is basically where all the magic happens. I do all my photo and video editing in there. My dad bought it for me, but I paid like less than half of it with the money I earned from selling phone cases. Then there’s my glasses. I just want to say it’s really pretty and it helps me see this beautiful world, lol, but look at my phone charger! It’s so cute! I wrapped my bee washi tape around it!
Lastly, there’s my white embroidered cap. I got it from Ross. I swear to God when I saw it there was light coming down from heaven and I could hear the angels singing. It is such a good find, and it’s cheap! I decided to put it in this picture because I know I’m gonna have a hell lot of adventures with this lil’ guy.

I grew up living in a house with a cherry tree in the garden that my bathroom window looked out onto. My Mum tells me that I used to sit under that tree for hours writing plays that I later would get my siblings and best friend to act out. It was my escape.
When I was nine or so, my parents got divorced and my Mum and us kids moved out of the house. My Dad stayed. I remember so clearly going back to visit him once and sitting on my old toilet. Something in the room wasn’t right, an emptiness. The feeling stood out from the rest of the house, which also felt vacant. It took me a while to realize that the light was different and the light was different because there weren’t leaves outside the window. He’d cut it down and when I asked about it, I could tell he didn’t understand why I was hurt. That was the beginning of many realizations I’ve had about my Dad and our relationship.
On my sixteenth birthday, my Mum ushered me out of our house with my eyes closed and revealed my own new cherry tree. The bottom Polaroid is a photo of my tree, Amelie, blooming on its fifth Spring.
I continued to write plays and finished my first full length one called Mess last year. It was recently performed in a professional space and the paper in the photo is the performance script that is ready and waiting to be edited into its final draft.
I have since written an adaptation of Chekov’s The Cherry Orchard.

These are a few of my favorite things and half of these things are gifts. What matters to me most are the people in my life, and so when they do give me gifts, I cherish them a lot. Even if they just leave me a sticky note on my desk, I’ll probably keep it for a very long time (as you can see in the random sticky note my friend wrote but completely didn’t even remember writing it that says “Jacky was here. I was gonna hang with you but you weren’t here. Oh well. – 2:18PM). If you go into my room, you’ll see that my wall is filled with postcards and small notes, as well as polaroids and printed photos. My journals are outlets for my bursts of creativity and inspiration, and my planner and calendar keep me on track and in control of my life. I cannot live without lip balm and combat boots, and Lilo and Stitch will always be my favorite movie, hence the Scump figure from a close friend who loves the movie as much as I do. I have also been obsessed with a choker one of my closest friends got me for Christmas. I wear it almost every other day. Finally, candles and cute socks give me warmth and Pilot pens make life worth living.

This past October, I went on a retreat that changed my life. Not like the cheesy kind of life change that happens in the romance novels you were obsessed with in middle school, but the actual kind of life change that shakes your soul to the core. The necklace pictured I received on the last day of the retreat, and I took it off for the first time since October to take this photograph.
On the retreat, you participate in personal reflections to find out what and who in your life are helping you grow and are helping you towards happiness. The other objects pictured represent that growth and journey. The CD is a mixtape that my dad made me to help me sleep as a child, and I still listen to it today. I attribute my passion for music (my future career) to him. The letters are from my mom--my best friend. I cannot read them without crying. The polaroid is a picture of 2/4 members of "The Nest." I do not know where I would be today without The Nest; they are my rock. I journal everyday and have for the past two years. The journal pictured is my journal from when I was going through difficult times in my life. I read it on occasion to remind myself the beauty that comes from struggle and that tomorrow is always a new day.
