COMPLETELY forgot this absolute UNIT of a pred was sitting in my OC pile. This is the World Leviathan (Levi to their friends), and they are the guardian of all the world’s oceans, seas, lakes, etc.
Their job is to preserve the aquatic biodiversity of Earth, swallowing up several members of every aquatic species in their domain and keeping their progenies alive and thriving in their ‘environment stomach.’ This stomach has a spatial distortion to it that makes it virtually endless, thereby providing plenty of room for several habitats for the species that are preserved there. The World Leviathan can shrink or grow freely, allowing them to access any sort of environment and swallow animals of any size.
Species that have gone extinct in the outside world can still be found in this stomach, as well as known extant species and undiscovered species. All of the habitats in the environment stomach are self-sustaining, with natural food webs and means put in place to make sure no species dies out completely. They also receive help from the other stomachs of the World Leviathan.
There are a collection of 4 mini stomachs that take in waste material and recycle the nutrients back into the environment stomach. There is another larger stomach near the back of the environment stomach that stores excess nutrients and other materials until needed. There is the regular digestive stomach that sends new nutrients to the environment stomach whenever they’re needed, usually when enough new members are added to the environment stomach whose needs need to be met. The World Leviathan only eats proper meals to give new nutrients to the residents of their environment stomach, they do not require sustenance to live themselves.
The World Leviathan rarely indulges in sentient prey (aka humans or other sapient prey species), as they do not trust most people to treat that animals living in their environment stomach with respect. Becoming a prey friend of this creature requires deep, deep trust that must be earned. Once you do become friends with the World Leviathan, you have the privilege of viewing and exploring a wondrous, seldom seen world of countless species stored away and protected in their environment stomach.
