What they believe or want to believe about their ship boils down to this: sex. Practically everything they say about their ship has sexual connotations, whether explicit or implied. Many of them don’t talk about their ship from an emotional or romantic perspective, partly because there’s nothing to support that narrative and partly because it’s not what they’re really interested in. So, they reduce everything to that. Everything.
