Washington University of Barbados provides an MD program with a course duration of 5.5 years where the first 1.5 years consists of the pre-medical program. This program deals with the introduction to medical sciences such as, advanced biology, biochemistry and community medicine
Pre-medical program is a qualifying program for students who have completed their 12 years of schooling and lack 120 credits for entering into medical school. It contains subjects of basic sciences such as, Physics, Chemistry , Mathematics and English required for over-all development of the candidate. It would also include introduction to medical sciences such as, advanced biology, biochemistry and community medicine which would be followed on in the medical program providing the students a head start for their USMLE preparation.
