Hiya there! Whew, it’s been a long time. I think it’s been 2 weeks maybe? Not sure but sorry for taking so long :)
Premise: Carnival setting with a ML who hasn’t figured out his sexuality yet going to the carnival’s psychic. The psychic says that ML is going to fall for someone close to him. He thinks they’re talking about his girl friend, but he shouldn’t have forgotten about his best guy friend.
I have another of yours waiting but my brain has been so flighty while I've been on my little break from work (yay working in an elementary school!) that I haven't managed to sit down and plot it out. But let me just... see if I can get myself to do something for this. I definitely like the idea. I think writing fanfic took some of my creative energy away, alas.
So, ML is basically unsure who he's actually attracted to or, frankly, if he's even interested in romance at all. He knows he's supposed to be but he's never really felt that way about anyone.
So when his friends, Girl and Boy False and True along with the rest of their friends, drag him to the carnival and everywhere, he isn't thinking much about romance. At least until they reach the tunnel of love. And suddenly he realizes that he has no idea who he wants to be with on the boat, let alone who might want to sit with him.
He manages to get out claiming to get seasick and that's when he finds the psychic. And, well, why not? His friends are all busy and he's got time to spare and she's free... so he walks in, sits down, and waits.
She looks up, smiles and goes 'So, you haven't been in love, have you?" And when he looks shocked, she grabs his hand and starts a list of predictions.
You will fall in love and you won't know it.
You are loved and don't know it.
Who you love and who you loves is close to you
Don't be afraid of love
And then she sends him out, refusing to answer any questions or make another comment.
So he goes back, meets up with his friends right at the end of the ride and laughs about the weird statements with them. Because, seriously? So weird! But both False and True seem very interested in what she said and they chat with him for a while, even going off together to try and find her.
(Much later in the show, we'd get to see them walking together and find out that False knows that True has had a crush on ML for years and been quietly pining after him and just wants to help them get together if she can and how amused she is by the entire situation.)
ML is thinking about that idea the whole rest of the time in the carnival and even that night when he gets home. He already knows the person he loves? He just needs to be brave about it?
And he remembers how all his friends tell him that False probably likes him and constantly teases him and maybe that's what she meant? Considering he has no idea how he feels about it... he decides to try.
So he tries to flirt with her: buys her treats, buys her little presents, buys her meals... but, honestly, he feels bad picking her over True, his other best friend. So he mostly ends up buying things for both of them? He sees True and he can't help himself. He ends up treating him almost more than he treats False. It's just so good to see his smile.
But he doesn't think about that. He's trying to woo False! And if True is somehow there every time they get together... if True is always first in his mind... well... that doesn't mean anything, right?
(This is another flashback later on, to False always texting True where they're going to be and the two of them giggling about how ML is way more worried about True than False and, in fact, often seems to forget she's there and not realize it.)
Finally, he works up the courage to ask False out. But she just stares at him and asks him if he really wants to ask her out? ML has no idea what she's talking about until she nudges him and points out the approaching True.
And ML just... stares. True has a bouquet of flowers and a pair of sunglasses on and it's like getting hit by a goddamn freight train because he suddenly knows why he's been enjoying the time so much.
He rushes over so True can push the flowers at him and look over his sunglasses and ask him out and ML can't do anything but nod.
And the show ends on the sweetest, softest kiss.
Well, it doesn't end. There's a scene in the middle of the credits of them back at the carnival, talking to the psychic, who laughs and congratulates them the moment they walk in the door and snaps a picture for her wall of successful love stories.
