Prenatal Visit #9: Keystone Women's Care.
This morning I was excited another prenatal visit had arrived. We were scheduled to be at Keystone at 10:10 to receive some updates about jellybean! Our appointment was with Dr. Sandhya Yerra. After seeing 7 out of the 9 physicians on staff at Keystone, Dr. Yerra was our least favorite. I'll explain why in a few moments.
We did arrive on time even though we had to drive separate vehicles. Melissa usually heads to work after her visits since she works less than 5 minutes from her OB/GYN's office. While sitting in the waiting room this time, we caught a glimpse of 'Let's Make A Deal' for a few moments. Much better than Dr. Phil and Kelly, BUT... what a weird show? An audience full of crazies dressed up in weirdo costumes awaiting for Wayne Brady to call upon them to make a deal. Hmm, only in America (esp. the west coast). haha
We were taken back within 5 minutes of waiting. Good. Melissa only gained 2 pounds since our last visit. I think that puts her total weight gain around 9 pounds throughout the pregnancy? I'm sure she'll correct me if I'm wrong. She's doing SO WELL thus far as I'm quite proud of her!! Even with our Krumpe's binge last night.
Her BP was 114 over 77. I guess the pregnancy and her husband hasn't stressed her out all that bad as her BP has been close to normal during all 9 visits.
Melissa was given two forms to fill out in our room at this visit. A Chambersburg Hospital registration form and a 'consent to deliver' form. Guess they want to get all the paperwork out of the way so they can be focused on the day/night of Melissa's delivery. Smart move. Such paperwork means we're getting closer and closer to the delivery date! Only 48 days remain!!
Back to Dr. Yerra since she entered the room about this time. I'm not sure if she was having a bad morning... felt rushed... or whatever. Dr. Yerra's patient 'bedside manner' didn't really exist. She stuck to medical/pregnancy-related questions and the procedure of our visit. No personal questions... no smile... just business. Guess I'm spoiled, as I desire a doctor whom medically knows what to do AND one that has a sense of humor and a personality that's likable. I kind of hope she's not the physician on call when the time comes to deliver. I guess jellybean and I need to have a heart-to-heart. :)
Jellybean's heartbeat was right around 152 bpm and Melissa's bump is measuring on schedule at 34 cm. Melissa (and I) were not so happy that she didn't oblige to Melissa's question if our baby girl was still facing head down. Every other doctor/midwife "felt" for her position to give us a clearer picture. Dr. Yerra stated it's "too early", but did say by the location of the heartbeat it does appear she's still facing head down.
Visit was pretty quick and to the point. Our 10th visit is on February 9th with Dr. Orndorf than our visits go WEEKLY!! Melissa will be 35 weeks by that point and close to full term. Wow. Our 11th visit was already schedule with the midwife Darlanna. From what our friends tell us, we should really enjoy these next two visits with these two particular people.
