It's Time For Change - Zeno/Prine
Prine needed to get out of District 4, that much was mutually understood. Annie hated her and, although she would never admit it again to Zeno, she hated herself. How could she do something like ruin something as precious as Annie and Finnick's relationship? Annie no longer seemed to be head over heels with Finnick. In reality, she seemed betrayed. What confused Prine, though, was why all of these feelings emerged again. Prine knew she had said sorry a few dozen times but it seemed like each word went over Annie's head.
This was no longer her home.
It was difficult to explain to Rosalie and Atlas as to why they were going away.
"I don't want to leave! Annie's sad and I want to make her happy again!" Atlas cried out to her once she had told them they were going away. A pang hit her heart at Annie's name and the look in her son's eyes of genuine concern nearly brought her to tears. But she had to be strong, at least for them.
"We'll visit, Atlas. Plus, we're gonna stay with Zeno! Isn't that exciting?" she asked, hopeful that this news would brighten their mood. Rosalie, quiet through the entire conversation thus far, spoke up with her small, gentle voice. "We are?" she asked, her eyes beginning to gleam. Atlas seemed a little happier now, though it was obvious he still wasn't totally happy about leaving. Still, it made him feel better that Rosalie was happy. "Tell you what," Prine said, having them both sit on her lap, "if you don't like it, we'll go somewhere else. But at least give it a try, okay?" she asked, hopeful that her young children would understand. They both nodded at the same time and she smiled a little.
It wasn't long until the necessities were packed. Prine wasn't sure how long they were going to stay, if she wanted to sell the house, etc. so she brought just a little more than what they needed.
Atlas and Rosalie were climbing on boxes, supervised, of course, by their mother who had her hands close by to catch them if either of them had fallen when the doorbell rang. Zeno was there to pick them up and a small truck came behind him. The movers came in and took the boxes, loading them into the truck and Prine walked out onto the porch, each of her hands clasped to one of the twins. "Hi," she smiled at Zeno. The kids made their way to the car and Prine took his hand, "are you sure you're okay with this?" she asked, a little worried that it might bring back too many memories for him to handle.
