Utopia? Chapter 11 Press Conference

“This seems very dangerous.” Her mom frets as she dresses for the press conference.

“It is more dangerous not to go. They will be monitoring us. Those that aren't there, how we react.”

“I know it is just..” She wrings her hands as she watches her daughter pull her hair up in a twist.

“Mom, it is safer for me to go then to not. Just protect Reuben.”

“With my life. You know that.”

She walks over and holds her close. “I know mom. No one I trust with him more.”

She spends the time travelling between her house and the auditorium were the presser was being held trying to calm herself. Her mom was right. Her coming to the presser was dangerous. She doesn’t know what they know, whether they understand where her “ this must be published” report cane from. But, if she doesn’t show, her absence will sure be noticed. And noted. The risk was worth it. Maybe just barely but..

“Danny.” The other reporter from her publication gestures her over. She approaches with her head held high. Act like you are not guilty, because you aren’t, she reminds herself. “So, you think they will address it?”

“I think they have to.”

“Who had the nerve, I wonder?” He doesn’t know. The only one who knows from her office is the boss. She expects to be called in, any day, but hasn't. She wonders if he has a Reuben, he is protecting. She simply shrugs. They turn their attention towards the front where the presser is beginning.

“I assume you know why you are here? I will be addressing the allegations made in the “this must be published” hack job. There will be no questions. As always, questions from you, the legitimate press, will be accepted on line and answered over time.

I say legitimate press because the anon ‘reporter who published this so-called report, isn’t legitimate. If they were, why the posting in the dark web? Why not in one of your publications? I tell you why. Because there is nothing legitimate about what it says.

I am not saying that we have everything figured out. It is new technology. We have made some mistakes. We own that. But, to say we are deliberately keeping minorities and disabled people from being born is insane. And to say we are rounding up, rounding up! Homosexuals and forcing conversion, is absurd! Utterly absurd.

The only reason the rate of minority births and disabled birth, is dropping is because we are doing more intense exams. Once we bring the health of all people up, we will have more babies, of all races, born healthy.

The cost of health care will plummet as the birth of damaged, genetically infer plummets. The goal of this whole project is to increase the quality of life across the board. Not just, despite what this inadequate report says, the whites and Asians.

So, in conclusion, no, we are not about creating a master race. It is about creating a better world for all of us.
