I remember when I first came to Tumblr and Looking For Alaska seemed to be everywhere, which made it less appealing. It seems like it tries too hard to be something it isn't.

It was really popular when I worked at Barnes and Noble, they had shirts and everything that went along with the book. I mean, it's nice that it excites younger readers so that's a good thing. But it just seems like more of the same from John Green. I may give it a chance at a later point but there's a lot of books I have on my to read list so it'll probably take a while.

Any of my Punch Brothers friends thinking about doing the NYE run? I'm getting tempted, but I wish I had a little more time until the 3 day passes went on sale (aka that the pre-sale wasn't tomorrow). And that they weren't will call only, so I could sell it if I couldn't go. EDIT: Ok well maybe there's regular 3 day passes on sale Friday that wouldn't be will call only- through Ticketmaster.

(I'm waiting to see what Dawes are planning or if they're planning anything. But I don't want this to sell out in the meantime. Blah. Help.)

That's not a bad idea, actually. I've always wanted to go that festival (I'm not much a crowds person, either). I would love to see them and Andrew play together(they've done it before in the past).

Having more than my fair share of these insomnia nights, I feel ya. Has no one mentioned Charlottesville? The music scene is incredible, the people are cool, IT’S FREAKIN’ BEAUTIFUL and the cost of living would be less than Jersey…

 Nope! No one's mentioned it. I'm from Northern Virginia (my dad was military police at Quantico) and I've given thought to going back. I'll definitely look into Charlottesville - thanks for the suggestion. I’ve spent some time in Omaha. There’s a couple tiny cool neighborhoods and venues but don’t be fooled by Conor’s success—you won’t find the music scene you’re looking for there. Asheville, however, is totally your vibe.

I want to go visit Raleigh this summer - when I do, I'll drop in on Asheville, too!!

Nashville or Boston!

Boston is awesome - but its SUPER expensive again. The reason Boston is on the list is because there is an AMAZING music scene there (speaking from experience). In my punk days it was amazing. And several awesome bluegrass bands are from there - Joy Kills Sorrow, Crooked Still, etc etc etc. Also, its the best place ever on St. Patty's day. Nashville is self-explanatory - but I've got friends there and the scene is equally good!

Asheville and Denver as write-ins. Any of your choices are solid except Omaha sucks. Actually, the rest of your list looks a lot like my list. Just add Colorado!

Ehh, no interest in Colorado, honestly. I know its Gorgeous out there - but ehhh.... I've heard good things about Asheville, though. I might need to check it out.

Hawaii didn’t even make the list..seriously? Haha. I would go with Omaha.

hahaha Y'all are giving me conflicting answers! Omaha has been on and off the list for probably 4 or 5 years now. It just seems like play music anywhere outside of that town is going to be a serious effort. PS - We're like a year overdue for some serious Skype time!

Yep, that's it. Some folks want to feel important by arguing their stances on things amongst strangers on the internet but when it comes to actually applying it in real life, it disappears. I shudder at the Kony incident. It's one thing to get the word out and get awareness started but to sit back, make a stink and then become a holier-than-thou advocate ... What's the point of that?
