Also I feel like that scene paralleled the conversation with Jo’s publisher who insisted that her female lead character must get married (or die). If you think about the pressure there was/is on women to marry, you can understand Jo’s desperation for Laurie to propose again so she could have a chance at normalcy and convention even though! its not what she truly wants
yeah!!! like i said there are a ton of layers to that conversation, which i think is one of the brilliant things about greta’s script. jo’s arc is as much intertwined with marriage vs personhood (especially where it concerns creation, both of work and the self) as it is about finding happiness and peace beyond childhood! :’’)
