You Know.
I bet that if a shit ton of actors and athletes and other wealthy and well off people publicly spoke out about what physical and mental health issues they lived with, especially chronic issues...
...and about the treatments and medications they undergo constantly for them....
It would probably do a fuck load to help explain to people why quality healthcare, which should be available to everyone, is actually only available for people who can afford it.
Don't @ me about insurance either, that's not only also expensive as fuck to the majority, especially for quality coverage, but it's like paying a fee to be alive.
And one of the reasons why you would need insurance of course is because, at least in the United States, the cost of healthcare out of your pocket is astronomical to the majority of the population.
Now add in the fact that most of the people that need quality healthcare most need it for multiple issues. Issues that usually exacerbate the others.
It's no fucking wonder that people can't afford to be sick.
You know that scene right? The harried office worker with a face full of snot, still loyally but ineffectually hard at work?
Sorry for ruining it for you.
It's also really fucked up when someone has to calculate the worth of finding a new specialist that they know will be at least 30-60 minutes away from home one way, against the cost of the gas and the wear and tear on their vehicle that will result from going to those appointments.
Because they are that poor.
And that is the closest doctor.
IF THEY ARE ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS.
But you don't have a choice if you want to try to improve your quality of life because your previous doctors moved or retired and were the only local practitioner sooooooooooooooooo.
Anyway I just felt like ranting about something serious for a minute I guess so take it or leave it.
