some thoughts I jotted down my first time through FFXV
Thoughts
Guys, I was thinking and like,
When Cor first joins the Crownsguard, the guy is thirteen.
A little baby teenager trying to fight and protect his kingdom while also trying to juggle like what, eighth grade!?
And Regis is eighteen around this time, probably barely getting out of highschool, ready to assume more duties for Mor, his dad.
And Mor is just this man who has a son who grew up in times of semi-peace (Accordo was still around and Niflheim wasn't expanding just yet) and he has the Crystal but it isn't draining him.
And then Cor turns fifteen, becomes Mor's bodyguard and you know he is spending time with the King and the Prince and is probably trying really hard to prove that he is worthy of his position.
I can just see baby teenage Cor trying to literally be a grown-up, fighting everyone under the son to prove himself and directly defying all advice given to him like, "You don't think I can take on those resistance members by myself? Well, fuck you."
Mor is thankful the boy is serious but also is just, "Why do you have to be in trouble for fighting like, ten resistance members? Why can't you be in trouble for like, breaking curfew, or making out behind the bleachers, or like, normal teenage stuff?"
And Regis is kinda annoyed at the kid's attitude but more worried the kid is going to literally throw his life away and is just, "No Cor, you don't fight ten resistance members by yourself just because you can. That isn't how this works."
And just,
Can you imagine the dad-son duo just, pranking and trolling Cor until he takes the bait and actually has fun?
Episode Gladio is so metal though. It’s all dead things and souls and leather and daemons and beasts and swords and power and wounds and tattoos and scars …all to the soundtrack of some shred worthy rock music, of course.
Oh, and Gladiolus lifting and swinging around stone fucking columns.
i think it’s so pure that this dude who is a prince and actually experienced Real Student Life rather than being pampered is so into fishing like
mention fishing and i bet noctis could talk about it for 2 hours straight and he’d show you his special techniques and before you know it he’s taught you how to fish and he’s caught like 15 fishes
Ardyn And His Fancy Clothes
Guys, I just had an epiphany. The fact that Ardyn wore so many god damn layers bothered me so much durring the game. Like I know he is a fancy man (the fedora really says it all for his character) and what not but I mean for real how many coats and vests does one man need? But like what if the reason he wore so many even in hot as fuck places like Lestallum was because he was part demon or whatever and the sunlight affected his human body. Like in Chapter 13 there is a report u find talking about how the MT's wear the armor so they weren't affected by the sunlight. Maybe it's the same case with Ardyn. Just a random thought.
Ignis DLC Theories and Thoughts
Okay, so far what we do know is that Ignis’s DLC that it is said to be puzzle-based and it features Ardyn challenging Ignis in a way and “outsmarting” him. (still looking for the exact source on this, link me if you have it!) It is also being saved last because it has a “large impact on the story of Final Fantasy XV, and they want to have the time to create a really solid experience, pretty much keeping the best for last. ”
I have a personal theory that Ardyn plays a huge role in the reason why Ignis becomes Blind. I mean think about it, Ardyn would have plenty of motivations to blind Ignis. Next to Gladio, Ignis is the strongest member and the backbone of the party and thus it would be an effective way to hinder the team from ever stopping Ardyn from accomplishing his goal. Ardyn is trying to purposefully shake up the team and nothing will hold him back. Especially coming right after Altissia, Ardyn targets/uses Prompto in attempt to disrupt the party. It’s because of Ardyn that Prompto’s true identity is revealed. However.....
Ignis says;
“I recall when the Hydraean raged—in the midst of the Empire’s retreat one conspicuous craft remained behind—the chancellor’s. The last thing I remember seeing was his ship heading for the altar. I fell unconscious… and was powerless to stop him.”
What I can infer from this is that is I believe this marks the closest moment, if not the moment when Ignis lost his eyesight. Also if we recall with the negotiation meeting with Altissian first Secretary Camelia Claustra that Prompto, Ignis, and Gladio were tasked with evacuating the city. Basically the Empire was there to attack the Hydraean and immobilize it basically there to shake shit up like usual, but they later booked it when shit went down. Ignis was there in the early stages to instruct Noctis and he was able to see the Leviathan and the Empire’s warships arrive. Both Ignis and Gladio remained on the lower levels of the city whilst Prompto gave Noctis a ride on that flying spear apparatus. (Are we gonna get an explanation on how the hell he did that?? cus damn son, Prompto that was sick af.)
Somewhere between Noctis’s fight with the Leviathan and when Ardyn reaches the alter in his air ship and fatally stabs Lunafreya, Ignis passes out. THE LAST THING Ignis remembers seeing is this. Why was he within directional sight-line of the altar where Lunafeya or Noctis was during the awakening the Leviathan?
Its worth noting that Ignis tells Noctis this word of advice during combat dialogue:
Ignis: If you can’t save others, at least save yourself.
Its really vaguely worded by Ignis but it also makes it seem that he did not physically see Ardyn himself but just his aircraft. Perhaps Ardyn set traps to delay/hinder Ignis in some way? Possible puzzle segment here???? Story content??? Mini-boss fight? I really have no idea?? Maybe Ignis was there to help Lunafreya before she went to the altar?? I don’t know, dudes.
Furthermore, was Gladio not there with Ignis to help him during this? Is this why Gladio is so upset on the train, that he wasn't there to protect Ignis and he feels survivors guilt that Iggy is blinded? Gladio is the shield after all. Owch.
I have another theory that possibly his DLC is completely unrelated to Altissia
if you’re on mobile there’s more under this cut!!
If Ardyn still existed today somehow
I can imagine Ardyn losing his cool and sass if he gets to see that he actually has a fandom and worse, what his fandom is doing to and with him like "what the hell I am for sure not sure why I should want to f*ck with any of these boys or even RAVUS?! This is why Ifrit will spread the Starscourge again" or "what even are AUs? Neither am I a vampire nor any other weird shit I have never heard about even after living 2000+ f*cking years wtf time to cease in the nothingness again" or "Oh okay, this picture is actually nice- *sees second page, pictured with chocobros* oH COME ON hell no, bahamut end me for your sake"
