Latest Developments on Frank Lloyd Wright's Price Tower
Design and Desire in the Twentieth Century has been following the ongoing developments concerning the fate of Frank Lloyd Wright's only skyscraper, the Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
We learned on January 21 that the Price Tower was sold to McFarlin Building, LLC, which also owns Tulsa, Oklahoma's historic Mayo Hotel. (The Mayo Hotel narrowly escaped demolition in 2001.)
Then the following day, the KOTV website reported that the Price Tower's current owners, Green Copper Holdings and Copper Tree Inc. declared bankruptcy.
As of this posting, Drake Johnson of KOTV wrote, "The two sides are disputing whether the $1.4 million price tag should include debts and claims that have accumulated since then, involving the building and its current owners."
Also as of this posting, the current owners have still not restored power to the Price Tower after a court order was issued to do so to prevent any damage to the structure resulting from freezing winter temperatures in the area.
