While organising the Pride Barbados inaugural parade, I sat down with Nation News to have a conversation on the priorities of the LGBT movement in Barbados.
I must also say that even though the content of these videos is important, I hesitated to share them because my hair was in that weird state, where heat-straightened naturally kinky hair swells and stiffens due to humidity. It's so ridiculous that as women, black women in particular, our hair and physical appearances are under such scrutiny and policing that we need to justify them. If not, the preoccupation with our physical appearance might eclipse the importance of our work.
