Birds of a Feather | Gill & Sherry
Gill Hamilton was grateful for the position he had been given at Arcadia’s Town Hall. Granted, it would have been foolish for the Lady Mayor not to hire him, given his administrative experience and family history-- but his gratitude was sincere, nonetheless. Thus far it had been an enjoyable experience to work for her; a sanctuary of normalcy, on an island that was at times beyond his ken, surrounded by things he would stoutly refuse to believe in (regardless of the more fantastical elements of his childhood), had he not witnessed them himself.
The sole downside to working alongside a like-minded, equally efficient individual on such a small island was that, much like home, what few tasks there were to be completed on the daily were often done so quite quickly, leaving Gill with little to do in the latter half of his shift. Unlike at home however, where he would not hesitate to relax with a book until his services were required, he didn’t feel comfortable doing so in exchange for a paycheck, nor on another’s time. Rather than confront this moral dilemma directly, he usually simply took his leave early to tutor at the local orphanage (if he wasn’t overwhelmed with coursework from the university), but the children were enjoying a scheduled outing that day of the week, and so was he given it off. Conversely, he was hesitant to go home-- if one could call the apartment he presently rented such-- to a broken air conditioning unit unlikely to be fixed by the neglectful landlord anytime soon in this sweltering heat.
And so, it may have been with some discernible reluctance, whether in his voice or countenance, that the young man approached his employer’s desk to inquire as to whether he could he could be of further assistance.
“Do you need anything else of me, Miss Bloomsbury?”

Just gonna slide in here and throw down 10k to rename Arcadia's "City Hall" to "Town Hall"... as I feel it's a lot more fitting for that island (lmao thanks Gill)
The doc has been changed accordingly!

“Leesh.” Alicia rolled her eyes at the thought of it. “It’s childish.”
🙂: Who, out of the people that you know, has the best smile?
“I believe Ms. Pia has a very becoming smile,” Ondorus answered, “She has an enthusiasm that is simply reflected in it.”

Everything she did in public was embarrassing.
“I tripped on the beach and freaked out when someone offered to help me. B-but they wanted to use water to heal my cuts!” She hesitated to finish when she realized how that might have sounded. “I, uh... Don’t like water.”
She was sad that she had to lie; unfortunately, there was nothing else she could do about it. If she revealed her secret and it got around she would have to return home.

“Mia has the best contagious smile. The minute she starts I can’t help but smile, too.”

“Chai. It’s my favorite tea, but also a blend of spices with a touch of sweetness. It suits me.”
