My work attempts to highlight how technological innovation has removed all but one per cent of the population from any ‘primary experience’ with the land, or with agriculture and food production. My practical research has led me to question and to reassess the psychological consequences of the British obsession with cheap food that I believe is one of the driving factors of our increasing separation from the land.
One of my references has been Carolyn Steel's book Hungry City, in which she constructs the idea of Sitopia, from the Greek Sitos-Food and Topos-Place.
