Last Tuesday, I decided to do an experiment with one of the third grade classes (8/9yos).
Every time I had to ask them to be quiet, let me speak and/or sit down, I would do a little tally on the board. I didn’t say anything, just started tallying the board. They were, obviously, extremely curious, and kept asking about it. I kept saying I’d explain in the end of the class. There were times when I was checking the books I even had one of them go to the board and tally for me.
In the end I explained every mark meant one time I had to ask for silence or for them to sit down. There were 27 marks in 50 min, WHICH MEANT they lost 2700 aura.
They were HORRIFIED! They cried out for me not to do it, that it wasn’t fair, why would I do that?! I think if I told them they’d all gotten zero they’d be less upset.
João Miguel even told me he’d had to aura farm in his football game extra hard and I was like nop sir, this is classroom aura. You can’t farm outside the classroom. He’s mad at me.
Teaching kids is wild.
On a related note, can we please convince kids six seven gives negative aura?
