Thief! Whether it’s my work, my ideas or my products it doesn’t instill warm fuzzy feelings when someone tries to steal 😕 In humans we hope integrity will prevail, when the guilty party is a saki monkey it’s a little easier to train a “trade” behavior. No wrestling for what is yours, just reinforcement for doing the right thing. The saki can also learn there is no (or less) value in stealing by teaching an incompatible behavior for those moments when temptation is around. Reinforcing desired behavior before the undesired occurs can help avoid the cycle of “do bad behavior for the opportunity to be reinforced for doing good behavior” Instead of learning a lesson for stealing via punishment, the animal learns other behaviors are more reinforcing.
