Casual Trompak Day in Central London
After waiting until 3:30 p.m. for my box to be collected for delivery, my family and I went into Central London. This was their first time in Central London and the first thing we did was go to the London Dungeons. I had two vouchers for free admittance when you buy one ticket, but the last group to go through was allowed in at 5. Luckily we made it there by 4:45 and went in with no problem.
The point of the dungeon attractions in any English city (I've been to the one in York as well) is to tell historically scary stories through reenactments, interaction, neat displays and effects, and the London one even had a ride! It's like an extreme haunted house.
During the courtroom interactive part for some crazy judge who gave people horrible sentences without real evidence of any crime, Jen was picked from the crowd and called to the stand. When asked where she is from, she said, "The United Sta-" "GUILTY!" The judge yelled before she could even finish. They didn't even make up a story for her, she was found guilty of being an American.
Then a little later on, I was picked out of the group and had to demonstrate a "good dying" with the hangman. He pointed to me and said, "You, little piece of treacle right there, come on up!" I just looked it up because I wasn't entirely positive what that meant, but he basically called me sweet. So I had to go up on this wooden platform in front of everyone. I started shaking a little because I thought the floor was going to move or something since I was being hung. Basically, he had me repeat after him by winking at the crowd (which I'm terrible at doing) to show confidence, then waving before they hung me, then making a funny face when I was to die. The whole point was to put on a show for the crowds back then while being hung. I had to do this a few times and he made a cranking noise which scared me a little because I was still convinced the floor was going to move. He then made a comment about don't be embarrassing and wet yourself when you're about to be hung. He said, "But that would never happen to Amanda here." Right then a stream of water streamed down in front of me so it looked like I peeing. It was funny, and I played along with it. I'm an actor, right? haha
The last thing, the hang man ride, was both terrifying and absolutely hilarious at the same time. I thought it was going to lift us up and drop up. But the lights dimmed and there were figures in front of us behind a screen so I was paying attention to them. All I heard was, "You're all found guilty!" Then BAM! we just dropped. The floor had opened up beneath us while the man was talking and I didn't even have time to think that we were going to drop because we dropped so suddenly. It was basically a, "Well that escalated quickly" moment. Oh and there were pictures.
I could not get over how flat out, crying from laughter, side achingly hilarious our picture was. Every single person, it was priceless. I wanted to buy it but my mom didn't because she didn't look good or something... long story, touchy subject.
We had some dinner after and went to the hotel we were planning to stay at to begin our European tour just to see where it was at and check if we can store our luggage somewhere while we went out the day we are set to arrive. On the way out, I noticed a sign that said "My Life Is A Musical" for June 7th in the hotel's bar. After walking around the city a bit, we went back to the bar, had some drinks, and listened to West End Musical songs performed by West End actors. For those who don't know, West End is basically England's Broadway, kind of a big deal. I felt so classy and really enjoyed myself. Plus the singing was outstanding! I made a few vine-videos for each song. It was such a nice mix too. My mom felt out of place because we were a bit under-dressed since we didn't plan to go to this before leaving the house, and my sister isn't in to that kind of stuff so she didn't really like it. But I think my dad enjoyed it and we all had drinks as a family. It was so cute.
I thought it was a great surprise powered by the magic of London. London always surprises you, but you have to be willing to enjoy it and roll with whatever happens. You can't fight London, London always wins.
