Nightfall {closed}
Sighing softly, Jacqueline stepped forward onto the nearest telephone wire, the black surface freezing at the touch, keeping her staff closely guarded behind her as she went. Boredom had struck, no one was around, no children, no parents, no animals, nothing. Nightfall had barely just hit the town, yet everyone had retreated into the homes, not a single one out to appreciate the snow she'd spent the day bringing to them. Being an immortal winter spirit so few believed in, she was used to having her work brushed aside, yet each time it still stung.
She paused, jumping from the wire onto a nearby rooftop, and sitting down upon it, folding her legs and resting her head in her hands, accompanied by her staff, laying flat out by her side. She spent a while there, watching Sandman's golden streams of dreamsand come and go. It had always been a favoured pastime of hers, seeing the dreams, watching the kids through frosted windows, smiling in their sleep. She'd recall many a time she'd reached out to touch the sand, to catch a glimpse of whatever image Sandy had brought to them.
But that had long passed, it was well into the night, everything was still. She let out another sigh, resting her hands behind her head and looking out towards the moon, a slight smile at the sight of her old friend spreading across her face, before she went back to the roof, leaning herself against the chimney.
