At moa I was rolling across a hall and I was like halfway through rolling past a friend group, going kinda slow, but not really, but enough so they were getting close and this guy stops like 2 inches away from hitting my wheel and trippin over me and rears back dramatically he said like oops or something, but not an apology but w/e. I didn’t look up but I wish I could’ve seen the look on his face.

But also?? I’m the height of a large child?? How did you not see me?? I’m really not that inconspicuous?

hey, wheelchair? hella good investment, without it i would be pretty much homebound and only able to do very short outings. i still don’t leave the house much, but when i do i can be out for extended periods of time

The build-a-bear guy mentioned how he liked that they make cool medical equipment and I freaked out for a moment, internally thinking “my chair isn’t cool, what is he talking about, what prompted this?” and then he asks about the pattern on my mask. He specified a videogame that I didn’t quite catch, and I said “I think it’s just a generic 8-bit pattern, but probably space invaders”.

Somehow I got up the courage to ask my friend to hang out?? So we’re going to the mall tomorrow and I’m really excited to see her!! It’s been 10? months since we’ve seen each other and I’m a little nervous because I’ve gotten (visibly) disabled since then, but she knows I use a wheelchair already so there won’t be a huge huge shock. But this is the first time I’ve spent time irl with a friend in almost a year (?) so that’s strange and I haven’t been around peers since January (but really November) so all this is going to feel really foreign.

How do I interact face to face with my peers when the only social contact I’ve had in 10 months has been from appointments and family?
