I've always been a bit confused with Cain and Esther's relationship. It's a little hard to find out more info because a lot of things are translated yet but I read from other fans that say Cain doesn't necessarily hate Esther (bc he/Isaak protected her several times) but he wants to "absorb" her along with Abel or something?? The most recent chapters of the manga look like he wants to kill her though lol.

Yeah,that’s a little bit weird, because Cain is insane and his actions arecontradictory dependent on which of his personality (himself or the crusnik) isstronger at the moment. He really seems to like her: he and Isaak are stalkingEsther and they want to get more information about her to know her more. Theysave Esther’s life several times and reveal the truth about her ancestry tocome out. It’s not clear how they know about her real family but presumablyit’s Isaak who has the informations, since he studied at the London universityat the same time as the late Prince Gilbert, Esther’s father. Maybe Isaaksuspected that the child is still alive and he made investigations (ROM 4-5) toprove Esther’s real ancestry. Due to those investigations of Isaak the others -especially William - becomes attentive and make own researches which at the endcan prove, that Esther is the princess.

In ch. 79Cain tries to devour Esther right after Mary, however he doesn’t realize whathe does or doesn’t consider this as a murder. At this moment the crusnik leadshis actings and since the devoured people “lives on" inside of him on aweird way, he can feel those devoured persons. That’s why he doesn’t realizethat it means for the others to be dead.
