Most passengers onboard the ocean liner have planned this trip for months. Passengers ranging all the way from first to third class status. And yet Joseph earned his ticket mere minutes before the Titanic officially left port. He was lucky enough to already have his luggage all packed prior to playing the poker game that earned him a third class ticket on the Titanic. A ship that is said to be unsinkable. Except the blond’s surprises did not stop there. Within an hour from now he earned a seat at a table in the famous dining quarters. Where most of the first class passengers would dine in luxury. The reason he was granted this opportunity was for helping a prince.

Joseph Lasile did not exactly come prepared with a suit to dine in. Surely the clothes he had packed away in his luggage bags wouldn’t do. So with some help, he was able to find a temporary suit he would be able to wear for the special occasion. Honestly he didn’t even recognize himself as he stood in front of a mirror, fixing his tie.

The brunet doesn’t even know why he feels incredibly nervous. He’s not joining the family in order to impress anyone. It was an offer that was granted to him as a thank you. And yet, the nerves still come. Maybe, just maybe, it has all to do to the fact that he’ll find himself completely out of his norm.

When the time came, Joseph waited at the bottom of the stairs for his date to arrive. Well, not so much date. The man is engaged. However, he would be escorting him to dinner tonight. So that had to account for something, right?

Joseph is slowly beginning to turn his life around. His love for Jack has yet to diminish. It’s something that will probably never leave the brunet. But he’s starting to get out there more. He’s starting to spend more and more time outside of work and his apartment. And the person he has to thank for this is his closest friend: TJ Hammond. Who also just so happened to land him the job as a bartender at The Dome. It’s nothing that’ll make him rich by any means. That was never the brunet’s real goal. But it did aid in keeping a roof over his head and he enjoyed his time here.

In two hours’ time, he’ll be heading back to his apartment. It’s still not clear yet if he’ll be hanging out with TJ after his shift yet. But if they are, it’s something the brunet is definitely looking forward to. It sure as hell beat staying at the apartment alone.

The brunet is going about his daily routine when he spots a familiar face. One of which he doesn’t need to look to for long to know who it was. He would recognize that particular face in a crowd of thousands.

        “Jack?”

Not quite believing that his ex-fiancé is standing before him. Why is he here? Did he somehow know he worked here? Was this all just a mere coincidence? Then again this is Washington DC. It’s well-known for its political figures.

        “What are – what are you doing here?”

For about a year now, Joseph has felt as though he’s been living a dream. Back in Gilboa, Joseph was never given the chance to display forms of public affection with his boyfriend. Holding hands. Having dinner together. It was forbidden. The only times they did have to spend together were in the comforts of Joseph’s small apartment. Although it was something the brunet agreed to from the very beginning of their relationship, it didn’t make things any easier. Having to go days and sometimes weeks without seeing or hearing from his boyfriend. But now? Things are quickly changing. Ever since moving – temporary – to the states with Jack so he’ll be able to study.

Now holding hands and going out on dates were common occurrences. At least when Joseph didn’t have work and Jack wasn’t busy studying for a test or working on homework. The brunet tried to fit at least one or two days in each week. But the thought was always there about what would happen when it came time to head back to Gilboa. There was no doubt that things would probably go back to the way they used to be. Except Joseph tries not to dwell on the thought for long. Instead, he watches his boyfriend from inside the kitchen. A smile playing over his lips.

Only a week away from Christmas with presents already placed underneath the Christmas tree, which they set up together. How could Joseph possibly be any happier than what he is in this moment?

Walking in from the kitchen – with a tray of cookies and milk – he takes a seat beside his boyfriend. It was times like these when Joseph nearly forgot that Jack was a prince. In moments like these it is just the two of them. No outside world. No crown. No Gilboa. And definitely no Silas.

“I thought I’d bring in some cookies and milk while you study.”

Joseph is lying in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. Except he’s not alone. Somehow – someway – he managed to bed the crowned prince of Gilboa. Just mere hours prior, the brunet was not aware that Jack was interested in males. Well, when morning came along, he got that all cleared up. That’s for sure. But Joseph is still trying to make sense of all of this. It almost felt unreal. To the point where he initially thought it was nothing more than a dream. But that’s before he woke up to seeing Jack in his bed.

“We met at a bar.” Joseph is still surprised that the prince took an interest in him. The brunet isn’t rich. He’s not royalty. So what did Jack possibly see in him. “We got to talking.” Honestly? Even Joseph forgot exactly what about. But he knew they were discussing … something. Which, in turn, led to this result. “We had sex.” Which explains why his clothes are in a heap on the floor beside his bed.

“I’m sure this isn’t how you meant to spend your Saturday morning.”

If Jack’s parents knew Joseph was in Gilboa they would probably have his head, but he needed to see the prince. Apologize for running off like he did. Taking the money from his mother even if he believed he had no other choice at the time. There was no goodbye said between the two. Joseph just vanished. Come to find out that his death was staged. Jack’s words are only proof of the fact. Even being hundreds of miles away from each other doesn’t hurt nearly as much as knowing that he attended his funeral.

“I didn’t think she would go that far.”

She as in Jack’s mother. But it was an excuse more than anything else. Joseph cannot put the sole blame on Jack’s mother. She may have arrived to his apartment with a large sum of cash, but he’s the one who took the money and fled. Even if he felt that he was making the best decision for Jack. That he wouldn’t be able to become the one true king that Gilboa deserved if he continued to stand by his side.

“I’m sorry, Jack. I know what I did was wrong. I shouldn’t have left.”
