Age Regressor! Mel King
- Mel is just the sweetest, shyest little girl you can imagine.
- Her disposition is naturally sunny and gentle even outside of regression, and that softness only gets stronger when she’s little. Mel is the kind of regressor who gets excited over stickers, juice boxes, and seeing ducks at the park.
- She started regressing after her parents died, and she suddenly became the only caregiver for Becca. Regression became the only place where she didn’t have to be the responsible one all the time. A tiny little piece of before everything went wrong, she could keep for herself.
- Most of the time, Mel only really lets herself regress when she’s off work, and Becca is at the center. Between the ER and raising her sister, she struggles to let herself need things sometimes.
- Mel’s sensory needs spike a ton when she’s little because she stops masking so heavily. She flaps when she’s excited, rocks on her feet when overwhelmed, and gets very attached to soft textures and familiar sounds - Her noise-canceling headphones are absolutely covered in stickers. Tiny frogs, Sanrio characters, stars, ducks, the whole thing looks like a middle schooler attacked them with a sticker pack. - Mel gets anxious very easily while regressed and tends to spiral quietly instead of outwardly melting down. Her caregiver usually has to gently coax her into talking about what’s wrong instead of insisting she’s fine.
“You got quiet on me, sweetheart.” She shrugs. “C’mon. Talk to me, honey.”
- Mel LOVES praise. You tell her she did a good job or call her a sweet girl and suddenly she’s smiling so hard her cheeks hurt.
- She gets really attached to routines when little. Same cup. Same blanket. Same bedtime story playlist. Change the routine too suddenly, and she gets visibly anxious. Unexpected changes throw her off badly when she’s little, and her caregiver learns pretty quickly that consistency helps her feel safe. - She's really into parallel play. Coloring quietly beside someone while they work, sitting tucked against a caregiver while they read, watching cartoons while somebody folds laundry nearby. She just likes being included. - Mel tends to regress younger when she’s sick, overstimulated, or emotionally exhausted. That’s usually when she gets especially clingy and nonverbal, too. - She loves bedtime stories but gets way too emotionally invested.
“No, no, the bunny can’t be sad!”
- She’s very sensitive to tone when little. Someone sounding annoyed, even by accident, can make her shrink into herself really fast. - Mel has a special interest in dogs that comes out in full force when she’s little. Ask her about dog breeds once, and suddenly you’re getting a twenty-minute explanation while she excitedly kicks her feet, or she'll stop cartoons to point at the TV and say:
"That's a Border Collie! Did you know that they're the smartest dog breed?"

Thank you to everyone who got me to 500 likes! This is NUTS for me to believe after four years running this blog - genuinely, thank you.
Being a college aged- regressor actively in college is the WEIRDEST thing sometimes because what do you mean I just came off of a Bluey marathon, and now I have to read on politics in Cambodia?
trying to answer messages for a project i'm working on when i'm regressing really just makes me feel like a baby in a really oversized work suit trying to act like i'm grown, ya know?
