break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?
There were a couple of things in his life that would have caused him to break down and give up but recently OBVIOUSLY losing Tomaj would do that.
Never seen a man so reasonable and scientific when it comes to magic turn so fast toward obsession and the mystical to revive Tomaj, regardless of Tomaj's wishes. There's nothing or no one he wouldn't sacrifice in the pursuit of this and ultimately he would betray every tenant he tries to instill in order to do it.
He would throw away everything he knows about magic all in an effort to learn how to bring him back.
Another thing would just be his research getting out before he means for it all to, in which case I think the old Zarkanian would come out in him. There's one way that you make sure someone doesn't share your secrets after all, and what's a couple of lives when it comes to protecting an intellectual revolution?
desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?
The democratization of magic.
Everyone should have access to magic and everyone should be able to wield magic safely. But that only happens if he succeeds in numerous different ways and if he doesn't succeed at every one of his goals perfectly, then he will fail them all. Because not only does he need to make magic safe to use, but then he also must spread such teachings and manner of practice in a way that is accessible to everyone. Not just those who have Dragons to spare to attend the superfluous university of magic in Zarkany, the Paraspire.
He's not open with it because if he is he'd have more than just the Paraspire after him, he'd have the rest of the 77 Princes as well. He might as well be dead.
Which is appropriate because he is willing to give his life to make this dream a reality
nightmare: What does your OC have nightmares about? How do they deal with their nightmares? Do they tell people, or keep it to themself?
He has nightmares about his time as a lover to the Prince of Hooks most often, but other times he has nightmares about the times he spent as a courtier to the Princes generally -- those are the worst-- but the nicer ones are the consequences that happen if he fails his work.
He would have given his life to this dream for nothing. It's his ego that says also if he can't do it, then no one can.
But of course he keeps these nightmares to himself :)
