Princess Davy and the Flotsam Court
In a world made of dreams there shined a wonderful castle. This castle acted as a meeting grounds and safe place for the many princesses and heroes from across different universes. They called themselves The Flotsam Court, swearing to protect all the lands from danger and darkness.
These chosen few were picked by their acts of courage or strength of heart. Though able to handle the dangers in their own worlds, sometimes they were called upon to come together for the greater good. Anyone could become a member of the court, so long as they were true to themselves.
No one knows exactly when or how he got there but Princess Davy had been with Flotsam Castle since the beginning. He was the Keeper of the Castle so to speak. While the others were gone, Davy would be sure to keep the place tidy and ready for the next meeting.
Though he wasn’t really a princess, and not much of a hero, Davy was still welcomed to sit in on meetings. When things got tense, he would often be the one to flip a coin. They called him Princess because he always seemed to be happy and loved to sing-song no matter how dire the situation or awful his voice. It was meant with love and Davy welcomed the nickname.
Often Davy would be gifted with boxes or packages of old dresses and jewelry. Davy loved to recieve the unwanted things of others because to him they were new and he could give them life again. He stored his many wigs and costumes in an empty room in the highest tower.
One day after a princess from a kingdom full of crystals left, Davy was busy cleaning up the paints and supplies they had used when he heard a noise. A loud crash sounded from the Room of Many Portals. In the empty place, Davy found a man. As the Portals were only seen and gifted to the Court Members, Davy just saw the man and the solid brick walls. A tiny cloud of smoke rose with the mysterious figure.
The man dressed in tattered greens and his skin moved underneath like bugs. Try as he might, he could not convince Davy that he was a friend. Only those welcomed could enter and this figure had no Portal. He wouldn’t even say his name. Giving up, the man explained he meant to take the castle and offered his hand in marriage.
Davy freaked out before running with the man on the chase. He moved like a snake and slithered up the walls. As he crawled it sounded like a million cicadas. Davy used the hidden halls and his knowledge of the vast castle to make it to his tower room. He devised a plan.
Using the various dresses and his wigs, he acted like different people in the castle. With the halls memorized, Davy moved all about and made the mystery man think there were several people in the castle.
Setting up a trap, Davy lured the man to the Artifact Room. There he pretended as if he changed his mind. Intrigued, the man began to speak of their dark future. Davy only asked one thing, for the man to give him his name. The name smiled and said it with glee.
As he laughed Davy lifted the magic recording device from a place long ago. If one said their name, the device could play it backwards and trap the person inside a blank cassette tape. Princess Davy happily pressed the playback button and the man’s name was spoken backwards.
The man began to spin and became a glittering ribbon that absorbed into the device. Davy cleaned up the mess from the chase just in time for tea with his favorite Prince. He wouldn’t speak of the random intruder, not unless it was needed. For now he enjoyed his days listening to the travels of the others in the court. If you ever make it to the kingdom in a world of dreams, you may find Princess Davy. Singing his songs of hope and thinking of places far away.
