😳😳 can we... get some princess masumi headcanons??
Princess Masumi (Castles & Castes):
The truth is, she didn’t always sneak out behind her father’s back to collect information about how the citizens were doing. She stayed in for some time after becoming a princess; there was a relief in finally, finally living a life where she and her mother wouldn’t have to worry about food or financial needs anymore. Although they had been happy with their modest life and helping tend to animals in the village, there were nights where they had gone to bed hungry, where holes had come through the walls or ceiling that couldn’t be patched until the rain or snow finally stopped, where the blankets and clothes they had would tear from so much use. It was thinking about this and the rule of the crazed Queen before her mother, who didn’t care for others like the King had, that made her begin to make her secretive journeys into the towns; now that she had the power and wealth to do so, she vowed to make a change for others who suffered like they had, because no one deserved to live like that.
Masumi became friends with Uchu early on, the maid becoming her first friend in that castle. She would never speak to the blue-haired woman like a servant, she never spoke to any of the maids or butlers like that. They were people too, after all.
The princess is the only one who knows of Uchu’s origins. After the great fire where she nearly burned herself to a crisp making sure others were safe (and fighting a bastard dragon, of course), Uchu didn’t want to lose the princess before she knew the truth. But that’s a story for another time, another place, another event...
The princess has many snacks and treats hidden away in her room when the craving comes to her or those nights where midnight comes and she hasn’t slept but her stomach keeps her awake. She’s a sucker for cookies, but has various chocolates, crackers, sweet breads, and the like stashed away. She’s had to change the hiding place three times due to the spot being found.
Since the events with the Dragons of Sin, the King has included Masumi in his meetings regarding kingdom relations. Considering the treaty along with three different dragons she’s had experiences with, she’s proven herself more than enough to him that she’s more than capable to discuss these things with the other members of his political circles. The king makes sure they respect her as well, not taking any kind of sneer or comment related to her being there.
After the end of each ball or party or otherwise large gathering, the remaining foods/snacks/drinks/etc. that are left over go back to the people and the princess will give these herself if she has to. It would be a waste to throw it all away, and although the kingdom is getting better there’s still poorer people who deserve to have food!
Masumi has her own little garden among the one already growing in the courtyard. She likes not only raising some of the medicinal flowers the kingdom is known for on her own, but she likes to try and crossbreed some to see the effects they could have. Maybe one day she’ll have a flower that can cure many ailments at once!

After an exchange of letters with the troubled young princess of Moonrose, the royal couple decides it would be best to arrange for some of their healing mages to make the trip to the distant kingdom to lend their aid. No matter the circumstances, it would still be a good measure for them to have as much variety in medical knowledge as possible.

he’s just so deeply sincere and also so deeply weird. Catastrophically endearing
unexpected m.asumi posting, i had a dream about him that was like an au where we had still met as teenagers but then i moved away so we didn’t meet again until we were adults. so instead of being kind of unspoken childhood sweethearts, he was just a funny kid i knew and then we meet again and i’m like What the fuck why’s he soooo. why’s he. Is this allowed
it was a good dream because like yeah that’s how it would be if he did all his character development where i couldn’t see. Yes he’s an adorable and extremely funny teenager, with all his ridiculousness and sullenness and drama and attachment problems (and i was also a teen so ofc i had a higher tolerance for. teenness) but he’s soooo? swoon? when he becomes more mellow and secure as an adult.
like he still has the core similarities of like “you are the center of my emotional universe”, the devotion and intensity. but there’s a desperate and chaotic fear of abandonment and a lack of selfhood when he’s still young and unmoored and lacking in any friends or family that he can feel grounded with. he clings or cuts people off with such volatility because what else can he do? As he gets older and becomes closer with the troupes and director and staff and he finds a home with the theater and a family in his troupe he becomes so much more settled
he doesn’t need to be Managed anymore because he’s gained control and awareness of Himself. he’s dependable and patient and certain. and his intensity and devotion feels like a choice instead of, well, idealization and infatuation between children
he never stops being m.asumi he’s still deeply attached and obsessive and frequently bizarre in distinct ways. but his love is habitable now. it’s steady. less resentment and fear. he’s found a way to love completely without losing himself in the process
and yeah like if i knew babysumi and skipped all the development and identity formation and found family shenanigans in the middle, being abruptly confronted by the reality of M.asumi U.sui’s Final Form would be a real shock. dream was right
“studying” with m.asumi… years old commission by @viktor-sinclaire from while i was in college :-)
i really love this piece and i really loved being in school at the same time that m.asumi’s storylines were about university too, it was just endless daydream fodder. my ship w him may have moved on from that time but i think about it often still because it’s just really sweet. lots and lots of co-existing in quiet spaces whilst doing other things
work’s almost over and i can go home and cuddle masumiplush and play vidya and most importantly Not be at work
