Prompt: I’d love to see their first Christmas together. Something fluffy with Sebastian feeling all overwhelmed because he’s never really had a /real/ Christmas with anyone before, realizing how alone he was before Kurt. (Princessmeerkat)
Words:1190
Notes: I have a feeling that I kinda fucked up the prompt, but I really needed to get out of my funk and just write something, so here goes nothing.
“Babe, seriously. Just tell me what you were doing.” Kurt stated with a pointed stare. His right hand was on his hip that was tilted at an unnatural angle, along with his head. Slowly, Kurt’s eyes moved from the closed Macbook on Sebastian’s lap to his boyfriend’s green eyes.
“Nothing. I was doing nothing. Surfing the net for exotic coffee recipes,” Sebastian replied with a tense shrug, feeling the need to crawl back on the bed he was sitting on and hide under the covers, just to escape Kurt’s stare.
“Coffee recipes? Yeah right. You can tell me if you were surfing for porn, you know. I won’t mind.”
Sebastian knew that it was a trap. His boyfriend would mind. Beneath the face of an angel hid a machine of destruction. Ever since the incident with the dumb girl who spilled coffee on Kurt, he never, ever wanted to see that side again. “Nope, no porn. I’m telling you, it was coffee.”
“..Is it about my present?”
“What present?” Sebastian asked innocently.
“My Christmas present, dummy!” Kurt giggled and from the corner of Sebastian’s eyes, he could see his grin. Positively scary.
“Ugh.. Christmas is soon? Cool, I’ll remember to get you something,” he said indifferently. “So why are you even here?” he asked, raising his eyebrow.
Kurt rolled his eyes and sat down on the edge of the bed, just beside Sebastian. The taller Warbler used the opportunity to slide the laptop under his bed. Out of sight, out of mind.
“Do I need a reason to visit my boyfriend?”
“You used the spare key. That was for emergencies.”
“But it was an emergency,” Kurt defended, his mood not easily swayed by his boyfriend’s avoiding nature. “I missed you. That qualifies as an emergency. Besides, it is Christmas tomorrow and by the way, if you were shopping for a present on the internet, I’m pretty sure it is too late now,” he smirked, a trait that Sebastian was sure Kurt had picked from him. Only his boyfriend looked so sexy when he did it.
“Kurt, I told you. I’m going to Ohio to spend Christmas with my dad,” he said, averting his eyes from Kurt’s beautiful face.
“About that… I called your dad, and he told me that you are not going home for Christmas. He said that he was spending Christmas in Spain”
“You called my dad?”
Kurt nodded slowly, but not apologetically and the silence between expanded. Kurt crossed his arms over his chest, as though he had a valid point. Sebastian rolled his eyes and looked away.
“That’s because there was a change of plans. I’m going to Paris to visit Maman instead.”
“Sebastian, you haven’t even packed! By the time you arrive at Paris, Christmas will be over! And I called your mom too,” he muttered shortly, his nose turned upwards in a dignified manner.
“You called maman?” Sebastian asked in surprise. “You are just trampling over my entire private life, aren’t you?”
“Sebastian, we have been dating for nine months! That is the time of a full pregnancy! If you are not interested in commitment, why don’t you just tell me?” Kurt asked, ducking his head in disappointment.
“It’s not about that-“
“Yes, it is!” Kurt interrupted. “You lied to me, Sebastian. You lied to me about going home for Christmas! Several times,” he pointed out.
Sebastian sighed in defeat and lay back on the bed, his head hitting the soft duvet that was in a knot. “Maybe I did.”
“Maybe? Maybe? Why would you even lie about it? I mean, who wants to spend Christmas alone? Apart from me, of course, but dad and Carole are going to Vancouver and I really don’t have a choice.”
Sebastian simply shrugged and looked at Kurt, whose eyes were full of confusion and suspicion. In the end, he couldn’t blame him. He would have been suspicious too if he had caught Kurt in lying. “I’m not a huge fan of Christmas..” he shrugged.
For some reason, Kurt understood him. That was the miraculous thing about Kurt. He understood Sebastian in a way that the latter had never experienced before. Most of the time it was scary, especially when Kurt analysed everything he did, but sometimes he was grateful for it.
“It is going to be our first Christmas together,” Kurt pointed out, his voice surprisingly low and calm as he laid down beside Sebastian. Without a word, their hands found each other, fingers intertwining in mutual agreement.
“I know.”
“You know that I’m going to spend it with you, right? Whether you like it or not..”
“I know,” Sebastian replied, turning his head slowly to face his boyfriend.
Kurt sent him a reassuring smile. “So, are you ever going to tell me why you don’t like Christmas? Who was the Grinch?” he added, hoping to keep the tone light.
Sebastian wasn’t the type to vocalise his deepest thoughts or to talk for hours about his problems. Luckily, his boyfriend understood that. “Dad,” he said with a shrug. Kurt understood. Growing up with a dad who never had time for his son must have been hard. Having a dad who wasn’t around for Christmas must have been even worse.
“Can we just go to bed or something?” Sebastian asked in a hushed tone. Kurt nodded.

As usual, Kurt woke up before Sebastian. The room was filled with the subtle sound of Sebastian’s deep breathing that revealed that his boyfriend was still asleep. Trying to make as little noise as possible, Kurt eased his way out of Sebastian’s embrace and got out of bed. He was wearing his comfortable baby blue pyjamas that he just had at Sebastian’s apartment in case of emergencies. It stood in contrast to Sebastian who was just sleeping in his boxers, the way he always did when they didn’t have sex the night before.
Kurt wondered for a second if he should snoop on Sebastian’s laptop and find out what he was doing last night, but something else caught his attention. On Sebastian’s study desk, an orange and blue ticket stood out. LaGuardia (New York) - Columbus, Ohio. 24. December.
It was then it hit him. Sebastian was planning on going. He was actually planning on going home for Christmas, but found out that his dad wasn’t going to be there anyway. Kurt looked at the sleeping boy and sighed. If he only would talk about his disappointment with his father instead of bottling all up. But Kurt was willing to be patient, for however long it would take for him to open up.
In his pyjamas, he opened the front door of the apartment to get the newspaper that Sebastian got every morning. Along with the newspaper, he found a package that judged by the stickers was sent with express mail. Kurt could identify the logo any day. His boyfriend had actually gotten him a present.
