Short answer; I absolutely love this. It has so many complex relationships in it, I love it.

—James x Peter (Pittigrew)

We can Infer that James and Peter were close. James was sort of like the queen bee. Evidence for this is moreso implied. He was described with praise from almost every adult, well, except for Snape obviously. When he teased Snape, nearly everyone was laughing. We don't see much, but we can pretty much assume it was like Regina George, y'know? Peter is like the unpopular popular kid. They'd be fun to see together.

This is probably one of the most toxic things I've seen, but they'd pair decently together. If you've ever watched shameless, they'd be like Mickey and Ian in the beginning, but I could totally see them becoming a healthy couple. They'd have a similar character progression. But if we're being so fr, Severus does NOT want to put up with James' bullshit.

James and Sirius were codependent best friends. Even after James died, Sirius quite literally clung to the idea of him. I mean, James welcomed him into his home after running away (I think, I may be wrong.) James and Sirius didn't trust Peter, which is literally why James and Lily died. They had an influence on each other. "I stand by my cancelled wife," is them.

Controversial opinion, but they'd be incredibly toxic, don't at me. Okay, but genuinely, examining what I know of their relationship, he's the only person that competes with Sirius. In the later years though, they all have a general distrust of them. A key aspect of the marauders is that they're flawed and that a lot of their friendships were flimsy or warped in some way, that's what makes it so interesting to analyze and look at. Remus was below James, socially speaking. He has a disability that caused him to lash out, as well as become physically weaker. (Side tangent, but I genuinely think this could be an amazing metaphor for migraines caused by mental problems, stress, etc.) Anyways, James was, for all intensive purposes, a rich, spoiled, white, privileged, male, aristocrat. As well as Remus not being very well off. James' power over Remus, as well as Remus being distrusted in later years, is so important. I'd LOVE to see them together, it'd be so interesting and detailed, and they should never even think of kissing the other because jeez, but it's like a guilty pleasure of mine.

James was obsessed with Lily. He literally blackmailed her into going out with him, let's be honest. However, they weren't a toxic couple in the later years, which always confused me. Granted, it was based off of an abusive marriage, (I do believe, I could be wrong.) so it's likely a warped perception, but still, y'know?

James was and is the one person they all have in common. They all have a relationship with him whether that's being bullied or being loved, he would be the main factor in all this. That or Snape.

unrequited with lily, lowkey into mulciber & probably have a thing in later school years/during war (mulciber being one of the only ppl other than lily that stands up for him & severus starts getting closer and closer to him and admires him sm) and then i see him & charity as a platonic friendship, and him & peter have a weird asf thing going on during their roomie era (severus making him act like his little maid but also peter's still acting like an immature twat but also they're both grieving and feeling guilty about killing their unrequited love and bond and make out over it)

also lowkey saw regulus/severus recently and i am intrigued... wouldn't say i actually ship it though
