The Charge and the Body
princexcharmont Roukan shifted in his cell impatiently. He wasn’t to happy about being thrown in jail for something he did not start but put and end too, and with good reason. A maiden was being harassed horribly by another and Roukan wouldn’t stand by and let it happen. These lands were becoming worse and worse and it was all because of that damned uncle of Charmont’s. And that boy was no better than to stand by and let it happened, coronation be damned. A snarl nearly left his throat as the jailers came to his cell, unlocking him from both cell and cuffs in a matter of moments as if nothing had happened. Four hundred pounds for his release. Petty. He did leave with a stony resolve, however, and soon saw the bright, boyish face of Charmont. Char. He had been assigned the boy since birth and all was fairly well. He was good friends with Charmon’s parents, especially his Father. They were good childhood friends and his passing had left a large void in Ro’s heart. He blamed his brother - no one shared the same conspiracy. It was also Ro’s mind that thought that Charmont was next on the list - that the damned king wanted to keep his throne. Roukan was hardly new to this game. “Thank you.” He gave a polite, formal greeting to the young prince with an equally polite and formal smile. He wasn’t happy. Char wasn’t happy. No one was happy. There was no apology attached to the end.
