Daisy and Luigi's Meeting
Alright, I got this done much quicker than I thought I would, but, here ya go! I'll be posting this to AO3 too.
This is also my first time officially writing Azalea, so, here she is too!

Alrighty, without further ado, here's the... rather eventful, fic on how my Luigi and Daisy met! 🧡💚
Luigi walked down the sandy path toward the desert kingdom he had been invited to. The princess – Azalea, if he remembered correctly from the letter – had requested her assistance with a possible ghost problem. Hearing of his escapades with King Boo, and how she had managed to beat him, Azalea figured that he would be the right person for the job.
The plumber observed his surroundings as he walked, keeping an eye out for anyone – or anything – that may be looking for her. Now that she thought about it, was she even going the right way? The path seemed surprisingly empty for being near a kingdom, even if it was in the desert. Luigi stopped under a palm tree as he pulled the map out of his pocket, setting the Poltergust on the ground next to him to give her back a rest.
Just as Luigi was beginning to look at the map, the paper suddenly flung out of her hand and against the tree behind her. Not expecting the sudden movement, Luigi jumped away from the tree as she tried to find the source of the movement. Looking over at the map, he noticed it was now stuck to the tree’s bark with an arrow, flowers etched into the weapon and orange fletching pieces on the end of it.
Luigi’s heart immediately sank as she noticed that, now realizing that she was in danger. He scrambled to his feet, hoping to make a run for it before she was the next target. However, she was quickly stopped by something – or rather someone – shoved her back to the ground, stepping on her chest to keep her from running. Luigi yelped as she fell, quickly trying to fight back before she was shoved back down. After that, she realized that fighting back probably wasn’t going to do much at the moment.
“You have five seconds to explain why you’re here. Talk.” Luigi then heard a voice command. She glanced up and saw a dark-skinned person standing above her, pointing a spear directly at her nose as they added a little more weight to the foot that was on his chest.
The person standing above Luigi was clearly some kind of royalty as well – adorned with gold bracelets and a ruby crown to match with their white dress that was decorated with the same flowers he had seen on the arrow. However, their demeanor was a bit rougher than you’d expect from someone in that level of authority. Well, the only person in that position that Luigi knew was Peach, who was on the completely opposite end of this spectrum – she can take and give a punch, absolutely, but she’s as sweet as… well, a peach, when she isn’t in immediate danger or stressed.
“Talk.” They suddenly repeated, poking Luigi’s nose with the spear, with an equally deadly glare in their eye. This clearly wasn’t the time to be focusing on the other’s features – his safety was immediately much more important.
“I-I—” Luigi stammered, leaning away from the spear as best as he could. Great, the one thing she wasn’t great at when she was stressed, and they were demanding that he talk despite that fact that it was nearly impossible. Not that they would know that, of course, but, still! How on Earth does she keep getting herself into these situations?!
“Daisy, WAIT!” Luigi suddenly heard a slightly younger voice shout. His eyes darted in the direction of the sound to find someone that looked much similar to the person on top of her – Daisy, their name apparently was – running towards the group. Luigi had gotten so overwhelmed so quickly that he hadn’t even seen the brown Toad-like creatures surrounding the pair, so, that was also a bit of a surprise.
“He’s okay!! I’m the one who called him!” The brunette continued to explain as she pushed her way through the crowd to where Daisy and Luigi were. Now this princess seemed much more like Peach, even in her appearance, sort of. She was wearing a similar dress to Daisy’s, but it had silver and green accents rather than their orange and yellow motif.
Daisy’s emerald eyes shifted to the other girl for a moment, letting out a slight huff as they did so, almost like an angry bull being held back. “What do you mean?” They then asked after a moment, their shoulders notably relaxing as they spoke to the other, shifting their gaze back-and-forth between the two.
“You know how people have been seeing ghosts near the pyramids? Well, he—” The girl began, motioning to Luigi. “—can help! Didn’t you hear that he beat King Boo at his own game? Nobody’s done that before now!” She continued, absentmindedly picking at the skin on her fingers as she briefly glanced at Luigi before looking back to Daisy.
“…Zee, you can’t just invite someone here without telling me—” Daisy scolded after a moment, reluctantly taking their foot off of Luigi’s chest, yet keeping the spear aimed and ready, just in case.
Okay, so, if the person who nearly attacked him was Daisy, then the other girl must be Azalea, especially considering the nickname.
“I know…!” Azalea whined, putting a hand on Daisy’s forearm as if to tell them to back off. “I thought I did, I just forgot!”
Daisy looked back-and-forth between the two one last time, before finally pulling the spear back, returning it to the sheath slung across their back. “Fine,” They began, before offering a hand to help Luigi to his feet. “If you are who Azalea says you are, then I trust that you’ll have no problem with this.” They asserted, before turning and nodding to some of the guards around them, who retreated shortly thereafter and returned their various weapons to their holsters.
Luigi nervously glanced between Daisy’s hand and their eyes, trying to figure out what the heck just happened. But, she figured it would be better to accept their offer before they backed out on them, and so she did, firmly grabbing Daisy’s hand before rather quickly being pulled to his feet.
“Sorry, I get defensive with strangers.” Daisy apologized, helping Luigi brush the sand off of his shirt and overalls. Once that was all said and done, they held out their hand for Luigi again, brushing their dark, curly bangs out of their face. “I’m Princus Daisy of Birabuto, but you can just call me Daisy.” They introduced themselves with a smile that gave off the exact opposite energy from just a few moments prior.
Luigi shook the sand off of her hat before carefully placing it back on her head, adjusting it until it didn’t feel like it was pulling his hair in weird directions. He let out a sigh of relief as Daisy backed off, briefly glancing between their hand and their face again before shaking their hand as requested. “I-I’m—I’m L-L-Luigi.” He shakily introduced herself in response.
“Luigi…” Daisy repeated, before chuckling a little. “Yeah, you look like a Luigi, I like it.” They continued, before motioning for Luigi to follow them. “C’mon, we can talk more inside. We don’t need you dying of heat stroke out here.”
Luigi simply nodded at that response, not quite understanding what they meant by ‘you look like a Luigi,’ but figured that prying wouldn’t get her anywhere. Once registering that she was being asked to follow Daisy, she promptly did so, jogging a little to catch up with everyone once he picked the Poltergust back up. This was certainly an eventful day already, that was for sure. And if the rumors about the ghosts were true, it would only get more eventful, surely.
